Sciatica and Back Pain Treatment in Newport Beach

Back pain has a way of shrinking your life — you stop surfing, stop lifting, stop sitting through dinner comfortably. And if sciatica is involved, that deep ache or electric line down your leg can make even standing feel like a negotiation.

I'm Dr. Julie Stefanski, and treating stubborn low back pain is a large part of what I do every day at Wholistic Abode, my practice on Newport Boulevard in Newport Beach.

Why back pain lingers

Most back pain isn't one problem — it's a stack of them. A restricted joint, tight fascia pulling things off-center, a core that stopped firing correctly, and habits that reinforce all three. That's why a five-minute adjustment alone often gives five days of relief and then the pain returns: the joint moved, but everything around it didn't.

How I treat it differently

Every session here is a full hands-on session — never a rushed crack-and-go. A full-spine chiropractic adjustment restores motion where it's lost. Myofascial release, cupping, or instrument-assisted soft tissue work addresses the tissue that keeps pulling things back out of place. And movement and exercise prescription — including one-on-one reformer-based rehab — makes sure the fix holds between visits.

Your first visit is a complete 60 minutes: a real exam, real treatment the same day, and a clear explanation of what's actually going on. New patient exam and treatment is $195, and every price is listed openly on our booking page — no surprises.

Sciatica: what to expect

Sciatica looks different in every person — for some it's just a dull, nagging ache in the low back; for others it's sharp, electric pain running down the back of the leg, sometimes with numbness or tingling. It usually responds well to conservative care, but it needs consistency and the right diagnosis. In your exam, I'll differentiate genuine nerve involvement from the common impostors: SI joint dysfunction, piriformis tightness, and referred facet pain, because they're treated differently. If your case needs imaging or a referral, I'll tell you honestly.
